Medical Care

Meeting Physical and Spiritual Needs

And He went throughout all Galilee, teaching in their synagogues and proclaiming the gospel of the kingdom and healing every disease and every affliction among the people.

-Matthew 4:23 (ESV)

Medical ministry has always been central to our strategy. Compassionate care builds trust, opens hearts, and creates opportunities to share the gospel.

Over 2 million patients have been served through Commissioned International (formerly BMDMI) medical Missions.

The Method

Hospital

We operate medical facilities in Guaimaca, Honduras and offer year-round clinical care while providing a wide variety of life-giving surgical procedures. The Guaimaca Hospital compound provides a medical clinic, emergency center, X-ray services, fully stocked pharmacy, and a diagnostic laboratory, and the Patrick Davis Memorial Surgery Center. These surgery teams usually consist of 15-35 team members and include the following personnel: surgeons, nurses, anesthesiologists, nurse anesthetists, scrub techs, and other support personnel to operate the autoclave, transport patients, and tend to the spiritual needs of the patients and their families. Working together, medical professionals from Honduras and North America provide excellent care and life-changing surgeries that help save lives or significantly improve the quality of life for many Hondurans.

Village

Whether in Honduras, Nicaragua, Guatemala, or Nepal, teams may also set up medical and dental care in the villages in partnership with a local church or pastor. Some of the ministries and services offered in the villages by our team members could include:
● Medical clinic
● Dental clinic
● Eyeglass clinic
● Pharmacy
● Adult evangelism
● Children’s ministry
● Food distribution
● Team kitchen
● Construction
● Veterinary ministry
● Clothing & shoe distribution
Each team serves as a catalyst for the ongoing ministry in that area as a means to meet physical needs but also as a platform to share the gospel.

Medical Brigades

Medical Teams serve remote villages through our local churches, helping churches gain influence while providing critical medical care. Teams serve in Honduras, Nicaragua, Guatemala, and Nepal. Medical teams provide general medicine, dental, pharmacy, optometry, other medical specialties, and most of all – the hope of the gospel.

Guiamaca Hospital

A Christian Charity hospital that serves a geographical region of around 40,000 people. The hospital is a full service hospital that is open 24 hours a day 6 days a week. It has a four room operating suit that is fully operational when North American surgery teams come down. Surgical teams consist of: General Surgeons, Orthopedic Surgeons, Urologists, OBGY, and various other specialties. Other team members will include Anesthesiologist, CRNA, Nurse Practitioners, RN, LPN, Surgery Technicians, and non-medical personnel to aid with other ministry activities.
